ABUJA EYE HOSPITAL - 2024 OPERATIONS REPORT

Abuja Eye Hospital

-completed 6 years of successful operations

-Mission is to eradicate 'avoidable' blindness in Nigeria

-Tulsi Chanrai Foundation and Aravind Eye Care System, joined hands in this Mission in Abuja in 2019

-To provide affordable quality eye care to the paying section, while providing the same quality eye care, free of cost to the non-affording population of Nigeria

Over these 6 years, the hospital has:

- served 433,000 + outpatients

- performed 43,300 + surgeries, of which 27,200+ are free surgeries

- conducted 250 + rural camps

- has become the largest eye care provider in the country 

- received accreditation for Residency program and has commenced training of

   6 Resident Doctors &

- has established that a 'sustainable' model for quality eye care in Nigeria is feasible & appropriate for the country. 

Going Forward

-TCF has embarked on the expansion of the hospital. On completion (estimated to take about 2.5 years) and at full capacity, the hospital hopes to treat up to 1,000 outpatients a day and perform 30,000 surgeries per annum. 

-TCF also plans to introduce 'Retina' and other posterior surgeries soon, and thus help the hospital to become a 'Centre of Excellence' in Ophthalmic care in the region.
