“Selvi (name changed), a 50-year-old tailor form Dhalavaipuram, Tamil Nadu, had spent years perfecting her craft. Things changed when threading the needle became a struggle, stitches lost their precision, colors dulled and faces blurred.

At first, she ignored it, thinking it was just temporary tiredness, but as days passed, the problem only got worse. The fear of losing her vision, her livelihood and independence deeply worried her.

A neighbor informed her about an eye camp organized by Sankara Eye Hospital, Krishnankoil.

At the camp, doctors diagnosed cataract in her right eye and surgery was the only option. She was nervous, but the doctors reassured her. The operation was quick and successful. After a few days of rest, for the first time in months, she could see clearly.

This timely intervention gave her a second chance at life and Selvi was back to her sewing machine doing what she loved the most. As her confidence returned, so did her independence.

Restoring sight is not just about vision, it is about BRINGING LIFE BACK INTO FOCUS.”
